Arriba Nacional Chocolate
Why it's different...
We use Arriba Nacional Cacao grown in the rich volcanic soils of Ecuador. Nacional is an heirloom variety that can trace lineage back 5300 years! It was one of the most coveted varieties due to it’s floral fruity aroma and complex flavor profile until disease wiped out all the crops in 1916. It was thought to be extinct until 2016, when they were rediscovered growing wild in Ecuador and through great effort have since recovered. Our Arriba Nacional beans only come from small family farms and are fairly traded to improve the lives of Ecuadorians.
Our cacao has also been 3rd party verified to be low in cadmium and lead!
There is currently a worldwide cacao shortage due to climate change, disease, and El Nino weather patterns. Our prices have had to rise a bit because of this. We are very sorry and we hope this is only temporary and we will drop our prices back down as soon as we can.
